Perugia
Located in the center of the Umbria region, with the 5 historical rioni, Perugia is enclosed by the Etruscan walls. The enormous ramparts, formed by squared blocks built 22 centuries ago, still visible for long stretches. The Rocca Paolina is the entrance to the acropolis, a unique historical-architectural complex, which could be accounted as a “container” of the medieval city hidden inside. It is possible to visit the inside thanks to the escalators with which you go up to the heart of the city arriving in Corso Vannucci through which you reach Piazza IV Novembre by the Fontana Maggiore that dates back to 1200. Perugino, Pinturicchio and Raffaello, the contemporaneity of Burri and Beuys will accompany you along the streets of the acropolis.
Assisi
With its historical centre, the Basilica of St Francis and other Franciscan sites, it has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Among the numerous monuments that make Assisi one of the richest tourist destinations, stand out the already mentioned Basilica of St. Francis, with the tomb of the Saint and the masterpieces of some of the greatest artists of all times such as Cimabue, Giotto, Pietro Lorenzetti and Simone Martini, the basilica of S. Chiara, and the Romanesque Cathedral of S. Rufino. In Piazza del Comune you will find the Palazzo dei Priori, the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo with the Torre Civica, and the Temple of Minerva (the most preserved Roman building in the entire region, built between 40 and 30 BC).
Lago Trasimeno
The “Sea of Perugia”, it is the fourth largest lake in Italy and the largest in central Italy. One of the most beautiful natural jewels in Umbria, among reeds and the enchanting white waterlily. The surrounding countryside that frames the surface of the lake creates breathtaking views to admire, as well as the discovery of the territory surrounding the lake, full of villages and treasures to explore, from Castiglione del Lago to Magione, from Passignano sul Trasimeno to Panicale, from Piegaro to Città della Pieve. There are three islands in the lake: the Polvese (the largest), the Maggiore (the only inhabited) and the Minore (the smallest). There many ways to discover this enchanting place: a walk on the lake’s shores, a boat ride, a visit to the islands.
